The Minister’s Message
October 2026 Letter to the Congregation
Dear WHUUFers,
I am so enjoying WHUUF right now. We are buzzing with energy and creativity. Sunday mornings are joyful.
I met with WHUUF’s children during Family Camp. I asked what they liked best about church. “Coffee time” was the unanimous answer. “Why?” I asked. “Because there are treats,” they told me. “Because we can play with our friends.” I see this enthusiasm at Sunday morning coffee time for all. For those who know one another, there is clearly pleasure in each other’s company.
At WHUUF we invest in connections with each other through our many small groups. In these groups people get to know each other and make positive connections. This is how we create community.
WHUUF has morning and evening women and men’s groups, a young adult group, and a family dinner. We have a group that plays Dungeons and Dragons, one that makes crafts, and another that reads. We have Chalice Circles, where people listen to each other and make meaning of their experiences.
We also invest in connections by working together to create our congregation. We provide coffee, welcome people, make music, govern, care for buildings and grounds, teach, raise money, and so much more.
Community is a blessing and is something many people in our society do not have. So take advantage of our offerings or if you need something else, create it! Talk to me if you’re interested in starting something! Take the time to listen, share, support, play, create, and serve. This is how we create a community that nourishes us all.
With care,
Rev. Tracy
September Letter to Our Congregation
This year WHUUF is piloting Woven Faith, the UUA’s new curricular and worship materials. It uses monthly themes, just as we have over the last 9 years through Soul Matters, a UU theme-based ministry subscription. Woven Faith offers more ways to engage theme than Soul Matters. Besides worship, classroom lessons for children, and small group ministry, it offers all age fellowship activities, support for boards and committees, classes to deepen understanding of inclusion and belonging as well as support for justice ministries.
This year, the themes center around the UU shared values:
- September: Interdependence
- October: Living the Questions
- November: Covenant
- December: Pluralism
- January: Courageous Love
- February: Equity
- March: Transformation
- April: Generosity
- May: Expressing Our Faith
- June: Justice
This is the inaugural and pilot year for Woven Faith, so the developers are also still learning! They want to hear from us how things worked in our congregation.
You will be hearing more about the possibilities offered by Woven Faith as the year progresses.
