The Choristers

The Choristers are a vocal ensemble with a long tradition of singing and service at WHUUF. Under the direction of John Boelling and assisted by pianist Ben Milstein, they perform once a month during the Sunday service, and twice a year, they offer a special music and worship service. Rehearsals are on Thursdays from 7:00-8:30 pm. There’s no audition to join and everyone is welcome, but please contact the director at jboelling@hotmail.com to find out if there are spots available. The Choristers are currently looking for tenors!

WHUUF’s Pop-up Choir

No rehearsals! No auditions! No fancy clothes! (Okay, maybe don’t have holes in your pants)
Come sing with Ryan Duff and friends in a low-stress manner. Show up at 9am on most second Sundays. Sing during the Service. Done!

Music Team

The Music Team is responsible for much of the music we hear on Sunday mornings. They
coordinate with the Worship Team and WHUUF’s musicians to plan the Musical Gift segments
of our services, choosing songs to delight and inspire the congregation and to express the
theme of the sermon and readings. The Music Team meets by Zoom on the first Wednesday
evening of each month. To get involved, contact Karen Stratton (strattonka@gmail.com).

Special Music Collective

The SMC is a pool of amateur musicians who are occasionally available to contribute the
“Musical Gift” segment of a Sunday service. SMC members can perform as soloists or can form
ad hoc ensembles. They can be, but needn’t be, members of other WHUUF music groups.
In addition, singers in the SMC take turns serving as Song Leaders for Sunday services. The
Song Leader arrives at 10:00 to review the songs with the accompanist.
Many SMC performances originate when the Music Team wants a particular song for an
upcoming Sunday service and solicits musicians to do it. Conversely, sometimes SMC
members suggest a song and the Music Team finds an appropriate Sunday for it. In either case,
preparing the song for performance is up to the volunteers; the SMC as a whole has no
scheduled rehearsals or meetings. Interested? Email Karen Stratton at strattonka@gmail.com.
