Inside WHUUF
We are proud to have achieved and maintained our status as a Welcoming Congregation. And we continue to work to become more inclusive of LGBTQ people and attentive to LGBTQ issues. In recent years we have…
- Shifted from having a Welcoming Congregation Task Force to a permanent Gender and Sexuality Justice Team
- Designated all-genders bathrooms on both levels of our building
- Started offering pronoun stickers for our name tags
- Hosted educational workshops on LGBTQ issues
- Hosted a screening of Trans Dudes with Lady Cancer and a Q&A with the filmmakers
In the wider world
WHUUFers have a long tradition of going to Portland Pride and Beaverton Pride. We always march and it’s always an honor – and a blast!
We also always keep an eye out for opportunities to take action for gender and sexuality justice. Past actions include participation in the Women’s March and participation in a postcard campaign through Advocates for Youth to oust the federal official who tried to deny abortion care to an undocumented teenager in detention.

Coming Up
Pride Beaverton is June 25th at 11am. We meet up at 10:15am.
Pride Beaverton is scheduled for June 25, 2023. There will be a parade, entertainment, vendors and food!! Great for kids of all ages.
WHUUF is excited to be marching in the parade this year! We can literally walk our talk and practice our Principles!! We have our WHUUF banner ready to go; we’re ordering fun things to wear and throw to the crowds; all we need now is YOU!!
Those wanting to participate should let Annie know and should plan to meet her in front of Beaverton Main Library between 10:15 – 10:30am on June 25th. She will then direct you to our spot in the parade line.
If you don’t already have a Pride t-shirt, one you might choose to order is this one: https://www.uuabookstore. org/Side-with-Love-Adult-T- Shirt-P18300.aspx
Hats, sunscreen, water bottles, and comfortable walking shoes will be critical.
Please plan to join us on 6/25 – enjoy the event, the fresh air, and most importantly, help us to show our LGBTQIA2S+ neighbors our support!
