Matt Bonazzola (he/him)

 Matt was born and raised in Los Angeles. He moved to Taiwan at age 17 to further his Chinese Culture and Mandarin language studies. Matt returned to the US in 1975.

Matt’s career path led him to nursing and also teaching. Matt’s been happily retired since 2016.

A music lover, Matt considers himself an aspiring musician and welcomes all opportunities to sing and perform with others. In 1990, Matt enjoyed a tour of Europe with the First Church (UU downtown PDX) choir.

Matt’s two children, Emily and Evan, live and attend universities nearby.

Matt is passionate about all matters relating to our worldwide climate crisis and tries to incorporate compassion and forgiveness into his life, as he takes it all one day at a time.


Barbara Joy Flitcroft (she/her): Barbara Joy was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, to evangelical missionaries. She moved to the Northwest after graduation from high school and has remained here ever since. A year ago she moved to Sherwood from Eugene to be near her two granddaughters Addie (7) and Payton (9). Her passions include gardening, reading, baking, and mahjong. She discovered that Unitarian Universalism was a perfect fit back in 2010. WHUUF has been a precious discovery.

 


Sarah and Michelle Midare: Sarah & Michelle Midare have been involved with WHUUF since Spring 2022. They loved WHUUF so much that they decided to get married here this past summer after 8 happily unmarried years together. Sarah grew up in Kansas and moved to Oregon for college. She works at Legacy Health in digital marketing and communication overseeing their public-facing website. Michelle was raised in Oregon. She manages a team of case managers for the State of Oregon Department of Human Services., Aging, and People with Disabilities. In their free time, they love any activity involving creativity, meditation, yoga, and water aerobics. They are the proud parents of a dog and cat, Avery and Luna, who are the best of friends (really!).


Michelle Paquette (she/her): Michelle moved to the Portland, Oregon area with her wife in 2020 after living in the Bay area most of her life. She has worked in fields from nuclear power plant operations to software engineering as an engineer and a trainer. She is currently engaged in teaching and public speaking on both technical topics and social issues, particularly on topics related to gender and rights. She was active with Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church as a friend and member for six years, working on committees, the Board of Trustees, and as a Worship Associate.
