Lots of activity happening! By the time you read this, we should have a close estimate of how much we might be able to raise in a Capital Campaign here at WHUUF. This tells us how much of the building project we have been working on all year we can
afford to undertake. What’s next?
On November 8th, we will have a townhall in the Sanctuary after the service to review the Financial Feasibility Study results so people can hear more and ask questions.
After that, the Design Build Team (DBT), the Capital Campaign Committee (CCC) and the Board will work with the architect to incorporate the major priorities of the congregation into whatever revisions need to be made to the plans. We will then ask you as congregants
to let us know if we have gotten it “right” in our choices. If called for, new renderings will be made; and by late December or early January there
will be a congregational vote on whether to move forward with a Capital Campaign to raise the funds for the project. Assuming the congregation votes to move forward with this, we will have member-to-member meetings for a combined campaign in which congregants will be asked for their annual pledge and, if possible for them, a 3-year pledge to the capital campaign.
Meanwhile, starting in November, we will be asking members to volunteer for two needs:
In order to prepare for the member-to-member capital campaign, we will need 40 of you to become Stewards, visiting with 4 other WHUUF pledgers for their pledges.
Assuming the congregation votes to go ahead, we will need small groups to make a myriad of decisions on the finishes, furnishings, and fixtures. There will be groups to decide on the details of specific spaces—the new coffee area, the stage, the AV room, etc.—as well as general décor decisions: hardwood vs.carpeting, darker finishes vs. lighter finishes, lighting, etc.
If you have an interest in any of these areas, please let Capital Campaign Co-Chairs
Karen Stratton or Dan Boyce know.
